Today's Update

I just took a new picture from the backyard, as well as one from inside the new basement TV room. I already can picture where I'm going to put everything!

Wood (and Steel Beams)

That's a lot of wood!
Yes. Yes, it is.
So, the windows have been out and the plywood has become a part of our lives. Last weekend we let the kids and their friends (and the friends' parents) draw on the partition wall between the kitchen and dining room. gosh I hope that one of the walls that's coming down! LOL. I'll post photos soon.

Our construction team deftly positioned the steel beam into place. THAT was a noisy morning.

Then, the wood, er, lumber arrived. Since then (Tuesday) the framework has been going up pretty fast. As of today, there's actually a whole lot more done that what I have photographed- I haven't had time to get back out there...

Noisy but exciting!

Dark Kitchen

Behold! There's more.

Kitchen Windows and door

The kitchen seems a lot more airy today! Also, the dumpster has been taken away for emptying (I guess) and our steel beam has arrived. So much excitement.

The Dining Room

is definitely changing. That "temporary wall" is really well made. I'm impressed.

The Masonry is Done

Yippee. Phase #1! Only 17 more to go!!
Actually the dining room windows and part of the wall have been taken down this afternoon. I'll take photos in a stealth fashion and post soon. In the meantime, bask in the glow of our l'il cell block!

Today's Progress and Hotter than April Outta Be

92 at the tiny gray house on the edge of the woods. Too hot.
I took the first photo this morning and the second a few minutes ago.
Our backhoe is back and we've completely clogged up the street. We're going to owe our neighbors forever!

Hey, there's a port-a-pottie on my front lawn. That's going to go over well...

Back To Business

Sorry for so much downtime, but first is was rainy and the construction didn't progress, then we went to Florida for spring break and I couldn't post, AND it was rainy at home, so work couldn't progress. Upon our return the concrete "footers" were pouring and needed extra time to dry (picture 1). Then, over the last few days and over the Easter weekend the guys started building the cement and cinder block foundation (picture 2). What fun! I promise to be more diligent in keeping you up-to-date on our project.

In other news, my jellybean consumption has pretty much gone through the roof, not because of stress but due to the fact that my own personal jelly bean elves have been working night and day to keep a plentiful supply. Many thanks to Laura for enabling me with literally a bed pillow sized bag of jelly beanie goodness, and Katie who pretty much gives me the jelly beans right out of her kids' Easter baskets, so that I don't have to put my wine glass down, walk the 100 or so feet to our house to get my own huge bag. THAT is true friendship and ladies, I continue not to be worthy {bow, bow, bow}. I think the sugar has gotten to my brain. Yeah, that's it.
